Liquen

Liquen is a portable electronic instrument inspired by the growth patterns of certain lichens from Galicia, Spain.

The design comprises an electronic oscillator that allows the performer to explore its different partial components using both hands. Partial sounds arise through an electronic configuration known as Hard Sync, which multiplies the frequency of the root note by a series of integers, thus obtaining these pitches.

Through a copper tactile keyboard, the player merges with the circuit using body resistivity to explore the different melodic and timbral possibilities of this device tuned to the harmonic series, the sequence of pitches that follows the vibrational rules of nature itself.
